Four days in West Bohemia: Karlovy Vary and its colonnades beneath the Christmas lights, then the Christmas market of Plzeň.
Karlovy Vary, the most famous spa town in Bohemia, offers an elegant and peaceful Christmas, far from the crowds of the capitals. Your group strolls along the colonnades where the hot springs gush, tastes the thermal water from the traditional little spouted cup and nibbles spa wafers, a local speciality. The town is also the birthplace of Becherovka, a herbal liqueur, and of Moser crystal, whose glassworks can be visited. The third day leads to Plzeň, where the Christmas market sets up on the main square at the foot of St Bartholomew’s Cathedral, and where the Pilsner Urquell brewery opens its doors to visitors. Three nights in the same hotel make the stay restful; only the first day is a long day on the road.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Bohemia
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
- Comfortable coach journey: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Free lunch on the way; this is the longest travel day of the trip.
- Arrival in Karlovy Vary at the end of the day and check-in at the hotel for 3 nights.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Karlovy Vary, colonnades and crystal
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the spa town: Mill Colonnade, Hot Spring Colonnade and hot springs (on request).
- Free tasting of the thermal water and the Karlovy Vary wafers.
- Seated lunch in a Czech restaurant (on request).
- Visit of the Moser glassworks and museum (on request).
- Visit of the Becherovka museum with tasting (on request).
- Free late afternoon at the Christmas market and beneath the town’s lights.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Plzeň and its Christmas market
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Plzeň (about 1 hour 15 minutes).
- Guided tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery and its cellars (on request).
- Seated lunch in a Plzeň brasserie (on request).
- Free time at the Christmas market on Republic Square, in front of St Bartholomew’s Cathedral.
- Return to Karlovy Vary in the late afternoon.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure in the morning.
- Return journey with regular breaks and free lunch on the way.
- Return in the evening to your region.

- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant; bring your usual medication.
- Departure and return times adapted to your group’s pick-up point; trip available from 20 participants, on the date of your choice, price on quotation.
- Walking level: easy to moderate; flat promenade along the Teplá river in Karlovy Vary, sloping streets in the upper town; cool brewery cellars with stairs. Wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.
- Christmas markets: from late November to late December, to be checked each year; bring warm clothing; currency: Czech koruna (CZK), bank cards very widely accepted.
