Three Christmas days in South Holland: Delft’s market square, the canals of Leiden and the festive atmosphere of The Hague.
Three towns close to one another, three Christmas atmospheres: this relaxed trip avoids long journeys and leaves time to enjoy each stop. In Delft, the market square comes alive with stalls between the town hall and the New Church, in the home town of blue earthenware. Leiden, the university town where Rembrandt studied, holds its Christmas market along canals lined with lights. In The Hague, the Mauritshuis and its Girl with a Pearl Earring offer a cultural break in the warm, before a last stroll through the illuminated centre. Two nights in the same hotel on half board complete this peaceful trip.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Delft
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Delft in the late morning.
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Free time at the Christmas market on the market square, between the town hall and the New Church.
- Visit to the Royal Delft factory and its painted pottery workshop (on request)
- Check-in at a hotel in The Hague area for 2 nights, dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Leiden and its canals
- Breakfast at the hotel, then a short drive to Leiden.
- Guided walk in the historic centre of Leiden, Rembrandt’s birthplace (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Free time at the Christmas market along the illuminated canals.
- Return to the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: The Hague and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the Mauritshuis: Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring (on request)
- Free time in the decorated centre of The Hague for last-minute shopping.
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Return journey in the early afternoon.
- Return to your region in the evening.
