Five Christmas days in Warsaw: the old town market, the Royal Castle, the illuminated Royal Route, a Chopin concert and Wilanów.
Every winter Warsaw lights up: garlands and illuminated decorations adorn the Royal Route, from the Royal Castle to Nowy Świat Street, and a great Christmas tree stands on Castle Square. Your group discovers the old town, rebuilt after the war and listed by UNESCO, then strolls around the Christmas market set up near the ramparts and the Barbican. A concert of music by Chopin, the city’s own son, makes for a fine evening in the warm. The fourth day leads to the baroque palace of Wilanów, residence of King John III Sobieski, whose gardens host winter illuminations in some years. The journey is long and made with two drivers, but the same half-board hotel welcomes you for four nights.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Warsaw
- Morning departure from the place of your choice, with two drivers on board.
- Regular breaks along the way: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Long day on the road through Germany via Hanover and Berlin, then via Poznań, arriving in Warsaw in the evening and checking in at the hotel for 4 nights.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Old town and Christmas market
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the old town: Castle Square, Market Square and ramparts (on request).
- Lunch booked at a restaurant (on request).
- Free afternoon at the old town Christmas market, near the Barbican.
- Tasting of mulled wine (grzaniec) and gingerbread at the market (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Royal Castle and the illuminated Royal Route
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the Royal Castle in Warsaw (on request).
- Lunch booked at a restaurant (on request).
- Free afternoon, then a walk at nightfall under the illuminations of the Royal Route, from Krakowskie Przedmieście to Nowy Świat.
- Piano concert devoted to Chopin (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Wilanów Palace
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Short drive to Wilanów (about 30 minutes) and visit to the baroque palace of King John III Sobieski.
- Lunch booked at a restaurant (on request).
- Free afternoon in town for last Christmas shopping.
- Evening visit to the winter illuminations in the Wilanów gardens (in some years) (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Early-morning departure with two drivers on board.
- Regular breaks along the way: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival back in your region in the evening.

Good to know
- A valid identity card and a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant.
- Departure and return times adapted to your group’s pick-up point; currency: Polish złoty (PLN), cards widely accepted.
- Walking level: easy (cobbled but flat old town); the outward and return journeys are long days, so wear comfortable clothes for the road.
- Christmas markets run from late November to late December, dates to be checked each year; bring warm clothes and non-slip shoes.
