Three Christmas days in Szczecin, the closest Polish city: Christmas market, the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle and illuminated quays.
Szczecin, a large port on the Oder, is the easiest Polish city to reach from Belgium, which makes it a fine idea for a short Christmas break. During Advent, the Christmas market stalls are set up in the centre and the streets are decked with lights. Your group discovers the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes, St James’s Cathedral and the Chrobry Embankment, a fine monumental promenade above the river. The rest of the time is free to wander among the stalls, taste mulled wine and look for handmade decorations. Two drivers take turns on the journey and the same half-board hotel welcomes you for both nights.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Szczecin
- Morning departure from the place of your choice, with two drivers on board.
- Regular breaks along the way: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Drive through Germany via Hanover and Berlin, arriving in Szczecin at the end of the day and checking in at the hotel for 2 nights.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Szczecin and its Christmas market
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the centre: Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes, St James’s Cathedral and the Chrobry Embankment (on request).
- Lunch booked at a restaurant (on request).
- Free afternoon at the city-centre Christmas market, among stalls, decorations and Polish specialities.
- Tasting of mulled wine (grzaniec) and gingerbread at the market (on request).
- Early-evening stroll along the illuminated Oder quays.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Early-morning departure with two drivers on board.
- Regular breaks along the way: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival back in your region in the evening.

- Walking level: easy (flat centre; a few steps at the Chrobry Embankment); the location of the Christmas market may change from year to year.
- Christmas markets run from late November to late December, dates to be checked each year; bring warm clothes and non-slip shoes.
