Three days in Strasbourg, “Capital of Christmas”: the Christkindelsmärik, the cathedral and its astronomical clock, and illuminated Petite France.

Strasbourg calls itself the “Capital of Christmas”, and its Christkindelsmärik on Place Broglie is one of the oldest Christmas markets in France, recorded as early as 1570. During Advent, around ten markets are spread across the historic centre, from Place de la Cathédrale to the great tree on Place Kléber. Your group discovers the cathedral and its astronomical clock with a guide, then glides along the Ill on a covered boat, nice and warm. Evenings are spent among illuminated chalets and with an Alsatian dinner at the hotel. With two nights on site and a well-located hotel, the pace stays gentle despite the distance.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to Alsace

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
  • Comfortable coach journey with breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Free lunch on the way, at a service area or in a restaurant.
  • Arrival in Strasbourg in the mid-afternoon and check-in at the hotel.
  • First stroll at the Christkindelsmärik on Place Broglie at nightfall.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Cathedral, the Ill and Christmas markets

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of Notre-Dame Cathedral and its astronomical clock (on request).
  • Covered boat trip on the Ill around the Grande Île (on request).
  • Lunch booked in an Alsatian winstub (on request).
  • Free afternoon at the markets on Place de la Cathédrale and Place Kléber, and in the lanes of Petite France.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Strasbourg and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Last free morning to shop for bredele biscuits, gingerbread and decorations.
  • Return journey in the late morning, with regular breaks.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

  • Christmas markets run from late November to late December: dates and opening days to be checked each year; bring warm clothing.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
