Mons at Christmas as a group: market on the Grand-Place, the UNESCO-listed Belfry, St Waltrude’s Collegiate Church and Grand-Hornu.

In Mons, Christmas is celebrated on the Grand-Place, one of the finest squares in Wallonia, lined with old façades and dominated by the Gothic Town Hall. Your group strokes the head of the little Grand-Garde monkey, said to bring good luck, before climbing to the Belfry, the only Baroque belfry in Belgium and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. St Waltrude’s Collegiate Church, a masterpiece of Brabantine Gothic, houses the Golden Chariot that comes out every year for the Doudou festival. As an option, Grand-Hornu, a former coal-mining site also listed by UNESCO, makes a fine stop a few kilometres from the city. Clubs, associations or groups of friends from 20 participants: departure from the place of your choice and a tailor-made day.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required for every participant; departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
  • The Christmas market runs from late November to late December: dates and opening days to be checked each year.
  • Bring warm clothes and good shoes: the town climbs up to the Belfry along cobbled streets.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
