A Christmas day in Zeeland: Middelburg, its abbey and Gothic town hall lit up, then the little harbour of Veere.

The capital of Zeeland, Middelburg has kept a rich merchant past, with its vast abbey complex crowned by the Lange Jan tower and its Gothic town hall on the Market Square. During Advent, the centre is lit up and hosts Christmas stalls and festivities, which your group discovers at its own pace. After a warm lunch, the coach heads to Veere, a once-prosperous port on the Veerse Meer, with its great church and Scottish houses. The drive from Belgium is short, allowing a relaxed day and a return in the early evening. The ground is flat, with cobbles in the old quarters.

Programme

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice; our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Coffee break on the way.
  • Arrival in Middelburg in the late morning.
  • Guided tour of Middelburg: abbey, Lange Jan tower and town hall (on request).
  • Seated lunch in the centre (on request).
  • Free time at the Christmas market and in the illuminated streets.
  • Mid-afternoon, short drive to Veere and stroll around the harbour.
  • Return to your region in the evening.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant.
  • Times adapted to your group’s pick-up point; from 20 participants, on the date of your choice, price on quotation. Wheelchairs and reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.
  • Christmas markets and events in the Netherlands take place from late November to late December, to be checked each year: some last only a few days; bring warm clothing. Easy walking on flat ground; cobbles in the old quarters; Zeeland is often windy.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
