A day in Luxembourg during Winterlights: chalets on Place d’Armes, the illuminated old town and the view from the Corniche.

Barely two hours away, Luxembourg gets into the Christmas spirit with Winterlights: chalets on Place d’Armes, Place de la Constitution and around the old town. Your group discovers a human-sized capital at a gentle pace, with its pedestrian streets, the Grand Ducal Palace and Notre-Dame Cathedral. From the Chemin de la Corniche, nicknamed “the most beautiful balcony in Europe”, the view sweeps over the Grund district and the ramparts. The journey is short, the pace relaxed, and lunch can be booked in a warm restaurant in the centre. There is then plenty of time to stroll between the chalets with mulled wine or Gromperekichelcher, the local potato fritters, in hand.

Programme

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
  • Coach journey with breaks: our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Luxembourg in late morning; the coach drops you off as close to the centre as possible.
  • Guided tour of the old town: Grand Ducal Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Chemin de la Corniche (on request).
  • Lunch in a restaurant in the city centre (on request).
  • Free afternoon at the Christmas markets on Place d’Armes and Place de la Constitution.
  • For the curious, the Pfaffenthal panoramic lift offers a view over the Alzette valley without any effort.
  • Departure in late afternoon, with a break along the way.
  • Return to your region in the evening.

  • Christmas markets run from late November to late December: dates to be checked each year; bring warm clothing.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
