The Christmas market of Esch-sur-Alzette, the Grand Duchy’s second city, then the illuminated Winterlights of Luxembourg City.

Less famous than the capital, Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg’s second city, hosts a friendly Christmas market in its pedestrian centre, human in scale and without crowds. Your group strolls there in the morning among decorated stalls, mulled wine and treats, then enjoys a seated lunch in the warm. In the afternoon, the coach drives half an hour to Luxembourg City for the Winterlights: the stalls on the Place d’Armes, the big wheel on the Place de la Constitution and the lights of the old town. The return journey starts in the early evening, as the lights come on, so you get home at a reasonable hour. Both centres are easy to explore on foot, with benches and cafés for a rest.

Programme

  • Morning departure from the place of your choice.
  • Drive to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, with a coffee break on the way (our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break).
  • Arrival in Esch-sur-Alzette and free time at the Christmas market in the pedestrian centre.
  • Seated lunch in a restaurant in Esch-sur-Alzette (on request).
  • Short drive to Luxembourg City.
  • Guided tour of the old town: Grand Ducal Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Chemin de la Corniche (on request).
  • Free time at the Winterlights, on the Place d’Armes and the Place de la Constitution with its big wheel.
  • Return to your region in the evening.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required for each participant; departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
  • Walking level: easy (flat pedestrian centres; some cobblestones and gentle slopes in Luxembourg City).
  • Wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility: please let us know when booking so that we can adapt the programme. As you travel abroad, bring your usual medication and your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
  • Christmas markets run from late November to late December, to be checked depending on the year; bring warm clothing.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
