Three days in Burgundy: the Dijon Christmas market, the Palace of the Dukes, gingerbread and mustard, then the Hospices de Beaune.

The former capital of the Dukes of Burgundy, Dijon is easy to explore on foot: the historic centre is flat and largely pedestrianised. During Advent, its Christmas market livens up the heart of the city, a stone’s throw from the Palace of the Dukes and Estates of Burgundy and the Church of Notre-Dame, where people stroke the little stone owl while making a wish. Your group tastes the specialities that made the city famous, gingerbread and mustard, and enjoys a Burgundian dinner at the hotel. The second day leads to Beaune, to the Hospices founded in 1443 with their famous glazed-tile roofs, then to a cellar for a tasting of Burgundy wines. Two nights in the same hotel make this gourmet trip restful.

Day 1: Journey to Burgundy

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
  • Comfortable coach journey: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Free lunch on the way.
  • Arrival in Dijon in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel for 2 nights.
  • First stroll at the illuminated Christmas market in the town centre.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Dijon, city of the Dukes

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of the historic centre: Palace of the Dukes, Place de la Libération, Church of Notre-Dame and its owl (on request).
  • Tasting of gingerbread and mustard at a Dijon craftsman (on request).
  • Seated lunch in a Burgundian restaurant (on request).
  • Free afternoon at the Christmas market and on Rue de la Liberté.
  • Visit of the Museum of Fine Arts and the tombs of the Dukes (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Beaune and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Short drive to Beaune.
  • Visit of the Hospices de Beaune (Hôtel-Dieu) (on request).
  • Cellar visit and tasting of Burgundy wines (on request).
  • Return journey in the early afternoon, with regular breaks and lunch on the way.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

Good to know

  • Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant; bring your usual medication.
  • Departure and return times adapted to your group’s pick-up point; trip available from 20 participants, on the date of your choice, price on quotation.
  • Walking level: easy; flat and largely pedestrian centres in Dijon and Beaune, some cobbled streets; cellars reached by stairs. Wheelchair users or people with reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.
  • Christmas markets: from late November to late December, to be checked each year; bring warm clothing.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
