A whole country at 1:25 scale: windmills, ports, dykes and monuments at Madurodam, then sea air on Scheveningen beach.

At Madurodam in The Hague, pupils travel through the Netherlands in a single day: windmills, Amsterdam's canals, the port of Rotterdam, the airport and the dykes are reproduced at 1:25 scale. Interactive games let them operate locks, load ships or protect the country from the sea, a hands-on way into geography and economics. The park, opened in 1952, is named after George Maduro, a student resistance fighter who died in Dachau in 1945, a story worth sharing with the class. The afternoon ends on Scheveningen beach, on the North Sea. The trip suits pupils aged about 8 to 14.

Programme

  • Departure from your school at the agreed time.
  • Safety: our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, by day and by night.
  • Arrival at Madurodam in The Hague.
  • Exploring the park: monuments, ports, airport, polders and windmills at 1:25 scale, with interactive games.
  • Guided tour or educational programme in the park (on request).
  • Picnic.
  • Afternoon on Scheveningen beach and walk along the promenade.
  • Visit to the Sea Life Scheveningen aquarium (on request).
  • Return to school at the end of the day.

Good to know

  • Each pupil needs an identity card (Kids-ID for under-12s) and parental permission to travel abroad.
  • Bring each pupil's European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
  • The park is outdoors: bring clothes suited to the coastal weather, sun cream in summer and a packed lunch.
  • Times are adapted to your school; pupils are supervised by their teachers.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
