Two days in Dutch Limburg: old Maastricht, a cruise on the Meuse and the caves of Valkenburg by little train.

Maastricht, the oldest city in the Netherlands, has an almost southern charm with its lively squares, terraces and cobbled lanes. A gentle guided walk leads from the Vrijthof to the Basilica of Saint Servatius and to the bookshop set in a Gothic Dominican church. A cruise on the Meuse then lets you see the city effortlessly from the deck. The next day, Valkenburg and its galleries carved into the marl are visited seated on a little train, followed by a Limburg lunch. An ideal short break for a group that prefers little driving and plenty of conviviality.

Day 1: Maastricht and the Meuse

Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
Arrival in Maastricht in the late morning.
Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
Guided tour of the old town: Vrijthof, Basilica of Saint Servatius, Onze Lieve Vrouweplein and Dominicanen bookshop (on request)
Guided cruise on the Meuse (on request)
Check-in at the hotel for 1 night, dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Valkenburg and return

Breakfast at the hotel, then a short drive to Valkenburg.
Visit to the Valkenburg caves (Gemeentegrot) by little train (on request)
Limburg lunch booked in a restaurant, with the local vlaai tart for dessert (on request)
Free time in Valkenburg’s main street, below the castle ruins.
Return journey in mid-afternoon.
Return to your region in the evening.
