Five days in Łódź, former textile capital: Piotrkowska Street, brick mills turned museums, palaces and the romantic park of Arkadia.
In the 19th century, Łódź became within a few decades one of Europe’s great industrial cities, and its textile magnates built palaces fit for princes. Your group walks along Piotrkowska Street, a long avenue lined with eclectic façades, and discovers Manufaktura, the former Poznański factory turned into a large place for strolling, shopping and museums. In Księży Młyn, the workers’ houses and the Herbst Palace tell the story of life in a textile town, from owner to worker. A day in the countryside leads to Nieborów Palace and the romantic park of Arkadia, then to Łowicz, known for its colourful folk costumes. The journey is long, with two drivers, but the same half-board hotel welcomes you for four nights and visits take place on flat ground.
