Eight days based in Ljubljana: old town and Plečnik’s bridges, Kamnik, Velika Planina pasture, Škofja Loka, Kropa and Brezje.
Ljubljana, a small, green and pedestrian-friendly capital on the Ljubljanica, is your group’s base for five nights in the same hotel. The bridges and market designed by architect Jože Plečnik, the castle reached by funicular and the riverside terraces are discovered without hurry. Around the city, Upper Carniola unfolds its small medieval towns, such as Kamnik and Škofja Loka, the Velika Planina pasture with its herdsmen’s huts, reached by cable car, and the blacksmiths’ village of Kropa. The basilica of Brezje, Slovenia’s great pilgrimage site, and the Volčji Potok arboretum complete this peaceful, flower-filled tour. A free day in Ljubljana allows everyone, including the driver, to rest; only the visit to Velika Planina involves walking on sloping meadows, and it remains optional.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to southern Germany
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Journey with a coffee break and a lunch stop: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Over the Austrian Alps to Ljubljana
- Breakfast, then journey through Austria (Tauern and Karawanken tunnels) to Slovenia, with regular breaks.
- Late-afternoon arrival in Ljubljana, check-in at the hotel for 5 nights, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Ljubljana, the green capital
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided walking tour of the old town: Triple Bridge, Plečnik’s Central Market, Prešeren Square and the cathedral (on request).
- Funicular ride up to Ljubljana Castle and panorama over the city (on request).
- Seated lunch in the old town (on request).
- Boat trip on the Ljubljanica (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Kamnik, Velika Planina and Volčji Potok
- Breakfast, then drive to the Kamniška Bistrica valley.
- Cable car and chairlift up to the Velika Planina pasture and its herdsmen’s huts (on request).
- Lunch at a mountain pasture inn (on request).
- Stop in the small medieval town of Kamnik.
- Walk in the Volčji Potok arboretum (on request).
- Return to Ljubljana, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Free day in Ljubljana
- Free day on foot in Ljubljana (driver’s rest day): market, museums, terraces along the Ljubljanica.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Škofja Loka, Kropa and Brezje
- Breakfast, then drive to Škofja Loka.
- Guided tour of Škofja Loka old town and its castle museum (on request).
- Drive to Kropa, a blacksmiths’ village, and visit of the Iron Forging Museum (on request).
- Lunch at a country inn (on request).
- Stop at the basilica of Brezje, Slovenia’s main Marian shrine.
- Return to Ljubljana, dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Journey back to southern Germany
- Breakfast, then return journey through Austria with regular breaks.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then journey to Belgium with a coffee break and a lunch stop.
- Return in the evening to your region.

- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant; bring enough of any medication you take.
- Times adapted to your group’s pick-up point, from 20 participants, price on quotation; wheelchair users: please let us know when booking.
- Walking level: easy in town (flat pedestrian centre, funicular to the castle); moderate at Velika Planina (sloping meadows, optional visit).
- Best from May to September; the Velika Planina cable car and the arboretum (tulips in spring) depend on the season, to be checked each year.
