4 days in Ljubljana: Plečnik’s old town, the castle by funicular, a boat on the Ljubljanica and an afternoon at Lake Bled.
Ljubljana is a human-sized capital whose largely pedestrian old centre is best discovered slowly along the river. The bridges and squares designed by the architect Jože Plečnik, the Baroque façades and the terraces along the Ljubljanica give the city an almost southern gentleness. Your group rides the funicular up to the castle, glides along the river by boat and enjoys real free time at the market. One afternoon is spent at Lake Bled, less than an hour away, with its island and castle. To keep the trip short despite the distance, two drivers take turns on the way out and back, and your 3-star hotel with lift welcomes you for 3 nights.
Programme
Day 1: Drive to Ljubljana
- Early-morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, with two drivers taking turns.
- Regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Drive through Germany and Austria, lunch at leisure on the way.
- Evening arrival in Ljubljana, check-in for 3 nights and dinner.
Day 2: Ljubljana along the water
- Guided tour of the old town: Prešeren Square, the Triple Bridge, the Dragon Bridge and St Nicholas Cathedral (on request).
- Funicular ride up to Ljubljana Castle and its view of the Alps (on request).
- Lunch in an old-town restaurant (on request).
- Boat trip on the Ljubljanica (on request).
- Free time on a terrace, dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: The market and Lake Bled
- Free morning at the central market and along Plečnik’s embankments.
- In the afternoon, coach excursion to Lake Bled.
- Crossing by pletna to Bled Island (on request).
- Tasting of kremšnita, Bled’s cream cake (on request).
- Back to Ljubljana, dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then return drive with two drivers.
- Lunch at leisure on the way.
- Return to your area late in the evening.
