Five days to discover Slovenia: its capital Ljubljana, the alpine lakes of Bled and Bohinj and the underground world of the Karst.
This trip introduces pupils to the essentials of Slovenia, a young country that became independent in 1991 and joined the European Union in 2004. In Ljubljana, they explore a human-scale capital shaped by the architect Jože Plečnik, whose works are listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Lakes Bled and Bohinj, at the heart of Triglav National Park, offer a fine lesson in alpine geography and nature conservation. Finally, Postojna Cave helps them understand how karst landscapes are formed and lets them observe the olm, an astonishing blind amphibian. An ideal programme for geography, science and European citizenship lessons throughout secondary school.
