A gentle day in Lille: cobbled lanes of Old Lille, the Vieille Bourse, the Palais des Beaux-Arts and free time on the Grand-Place.

Less than two hours from many parts of Belgium, Lille makes for a relaxed and charming day out. Old Lille is lined with Flemish façades of brick and carved stone, old-fashioned shops and pastry shops. The Vieille Bourse, whose inner courtyard is home to second-hand booksellers, opens onto the Grand-Place and its belfry. In the afternoon, the Palais des Beaux-Arts, one of the largest museums in France, can be enjoyed at your own pace, with lifts. Your coach drops the group close to the centre and picks it up at the same spot: an easy rhythm with no long walks.

Programme

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
  • Comfortable coach journey with breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Lille in the late morning, drop-off near the Grand-Place.
  • Guided stroll through Old Lille with a local guide: Rue de la Monnaie, Vieille Bourse, Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille Cathedral (on request).
  • Lunch booked in a restaurant in the centre, with northern specialities such as potjevleesch or Flemish carbonade (on request).
  • Visit of the Palais des Beaux-Arts, its Flemish paintings and its relief maps of fortified towns (on request).
  • Free time on the Grand-Place and Place du Théâtre for a coffee break or a filled waffle.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

  • Walking level: easy (flat pedestrian centre, cobblestones in places, seated breaks possible).
  • Trip possible all year round; the Palais des Beaux-Arts is closed on Monday mornings and Tuesdays (to be checked).

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
