Leiden, the university city: dinosaurs at Naturalis, an Egyptian temple and one of the world's oldest botanical gardens.
Leiden, the oldest university city in the Netherlands, founded in 1575, is a perfect destination for science. At Naturalis Biodiversity Center, pupils explore the evolution of life and come face to face with dinosaur skeletons, including the Tyrannosaurus rex Trix. At the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, the National Museum of Antiquities, they step into ancient Egypt through the Temple of Taffeh and its mummies. The Hortus botanicus, created in 1590, shows how scholars studied and grew plants from all over the world. The trip suits science and history lessons for pupils aged about 10 to 16.
