Three days in Leiden and Haarlem: Naturalis dinosaurs, history of science, Teylers and the Corrie ten Boom House.
Leiden is home to the oldest university in the Netherlands, founded in 1575, and a botanical garden created in 1590 where the country’s first tulips were grown. Pupils explore Naturalis and its Tyrannosaurus, the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave devoted to the history of science and the National Museum of Antiquities, which houses an Egyptian temple. In Haarlem, Teylers Museum, the oldest museum in the Netherlands, combines fossils, scientific instruments and old master drawings. The Corrie ten Boom House recalls how one family hid Jews during the Occupation. This trip suits science, biology and history lessons, from the end of primary school to secondary.
