Three days between Delft, the city of Vermeer and blue Delftware, The Hague and its Mauritshuis, and the Scheveningen seafront.
This short break brings together three faces of South Holland, less than an hour’s drive from one another. In Delft, the market square, the New Church where the princes of Orange lie and the famous blue earthenware tell the story of the Golden Age. In The Hague, seat of the Dutch government, the Mauritshuis displays Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring in an intimate setting that is easy to explore. The seaside resort of Scheveningen then invites you for a bracing stroll along the promenade. With a single hotel on half board and very short journeys, the pace stays peaceful from start to finish.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Delft
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Delft.
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- Guided walk in the centre: market square, town hall and New Church, resting place of the princes of Orange-Nassau (on request)
- Visit to the Royal Delft factory and its hand-painted pottery workshop (on request)
- Check-in at a hotel in The Hague area for 2 nights, dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: The Hague and the Mauritshuis
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided panoramic coach tour of The Hague: Lange Voorhout, government district and Peace Palace (exterior view).
- Guided tour of the Mauritshuis: Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt’s Anatomy Lesson (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- In the afternoon, visit to Madurodam, the Netherlands in miniature (on request)
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Scheveningen and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Walk along the Scheveningen promenade, past the Kurhaus and the pier.
- Fish lunch by the sea (on request)
- Return journey in the early afternoon.
- Return to your region in the evening.
