Close to Liège, a day in Kerkrade between the landscapes and animals of GaiaZOO and the science experiments of Continium.

Kerkrade, a former mining town in Dutch Limburg on the German border, is less than an hour from the Liège area. At GaiaZOO, animals live in large recreated landscapes, from the African savannah to the rainforest and the taiga, and pupils understand the links between habitats, species and nature conservation. At Continium, a discovery centre devoted to science, technology and industry, they handle, test and observe. The short journey leaves a full day of activities. The trip suits pupils aged 6 to 12 and can be adapted for the first years of secondary school.

Programme

  • Departure from your school at the agreed time.
  • Safety: our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, by day and by night.
  • Arrival in Kerkrade, Dutch Limburg.
  • Morning at GaiaZOO: animals from around the world in recreated landscapes, from savannah to rainforest.

Good to know

  • Each pupil needs an identity card (Kids-ID for under-12s) and parental permission to travel abroad.
  • Bring each pupil's European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
  • The journey from the Liège area is short; bring walking shoes, clothes suited to the weather and a packed lunch.
  • Times are adapted to your school; pupils are supervised by their teachers.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
