Six days in the Harz with a single hotel: Wernigerode, the Brocken steam train and UNESCO-listed Quedlinburg and Goslar.
The Harz mountains, between Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, are a region of forests, witch legends and small towns full of half-timbered houses. Your group stays five nights in Wernigerode, nicknamed the “colourful town of the Harz”, overlooked by its fairy-tale castle. The highlight of the trip is the ride to the summit of the Brocken on a narrow-gauge steam train, comfortably seated all the way up. Quedlinburg and Goslar, both UNESCO sites, then offer hundreds of half-timbered houses and a rich imperial history. A free day on site leaves time to stroll or enjoy a coffee on the market square.
