Four days in the north of the Netherlands: Giethoorn by boat, Leeuwarden, the Frisian lakes, Hindeloopen and the great Afsluitdijk.
The north of the Netherlands is a world of water, meadows and small harbours, far from the bustle of big cities. In Giethoorn, the village without roads, you glide on a silent boat past thatched farmhouses and wooden bridges. Friesland, with its own language, then reveals Leeuwarden and its leaning tower, the water gate of Sneek and the village of Hindeloopen, famous for its painted furniture. On the third day, the coach drives along the Afsluitdijk, the 32-kilometre dam separating the Wadden Sea from the IJsselmeer. Three nights in the same hotel on half board and days without long walks make this trip a truly relaxing time.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Giethoorn
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Giethoorn in the early afternoon.

- Short drive to Friesland and check-in at the hotel for 3 nights, dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Leeuwarden and Sneek
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of Leeuwarden: the leaning Oldehove tower, the canals and the historic centre (on request)
- Visit to the Princessehof ceramics museum (on request)
- Lunch booked in a restaurant (on request)
- In the afternoon, stop in Sneek and its Waterpoort water gate, then a boat trip on the Frisian lakes (on request)
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Hindeloopen, the Afsluitdijk and Harlingen
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Discovery of Hindeloopen, a small harbour known for its colourfully painted furniture.
- Coach crossing of the Afsluitdijk, the 32-kilometre dam between the Wadden Sea and the IJsselmeer.
- Visit to the dam’s visitor centre at Kornwerderzand (on request)
- Fish lunch in Harlingen, a Wadden Sea harbour (on request)
- Free time on the quays of Harlingen, then return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 4: Return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure in mid-morning.
- Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch on the way (on request)
- Return to your region in the evening.
