A day between Echternach Abbey and the sandstone rocks of the Mullerthal, “Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland”.
The Mullerthal, nicknamed “Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland”, is a region of forests and sandstone rocks carved by erosion, ideal for a nature outing. Pupils observe gorges, caves and the Schiessentümpel waterfall, and understand how water and time shape a landscape. In Echternach, the oldest town in the country, they discover the abbey founded by St Willibrord at the end of the 7th century and the hopping procession, inscribed on UNESCO’s intangible heritage list. The day combines walking, earth sciences and history. It suits pupils from the middle of primary school to secondary, for science, geography and history.
