Five days of fresh sea air on the Opal Coast: Boulogne and Nausicaá, the Two Capes, Le Touquet, Montreuil-sur-Mer and Calais.
The Opal Coast is the nearest French seaside to Belgium, with cliffs, vast beaches and a light that changes by the hour. Your hotel in or near Boulogne-sur-Mer welcomes you for four nights on half board, without changing rooms. On the programme: the upper town of Boulogne and its ramparts, Nausicaá and its aquariums, then the scenic road over Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez, from where the English coast can be seen on a clear day. Le Touquet with its villas and long beach, and the little fortified town of Montreuil-sur-Mer, dear to Victor Hugo, complete the stay. Journeys are short, visits are commented and there is plenty of free time on the seafront.
Programme
Day 1: Drive to the Opal Coast
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Drive to the coast with regular breaks: our drivers drive no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch at a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel for four nights, first stroll on the seafront and dinner.
Day 2: Boulogne-sur-Mer and Nausicaá
- Breakfast, then guided tour of Boulogne’s upper town: ramparts, belfry and Notre-Dame basilica (on request).
- Fish lunch at the harbour (on request).
- Visit of Nausicaá, the national sea centre (on request).
- Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 3: The Grand Site des Deux-Caps
- Breakfast and scenic drive to Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez.
- Short walk at the cape, weather permitting, and stop at Wissant and its wide beach.
- Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Free afternoon by the sea, then dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: Le Touquet and Montreuil-sur-Mer
- Breakfast and drive to Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, its villas and seafront.
- Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Guided tour of Montreuil-sur-Mer and its ramparts (on request).
- Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 5: Calais and return
- Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Calais.
- Stop at Rodin’s Burghers of Calais and the town hall.
- Visit of the Cité de la Dentelle et de la Mode (lace and fashion museum) (on request).
- Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Return journey, arriving in your region in the late afternoon.
