The French Ardennes close to Belgium: Place Ducale and puppets in Charleville-Mézières, then the fortified castle of Sedan.

Very close to the border, Charleville-Mézières and Sedan make for a day without a long drive. Charleville’s Place Ducale, sister of the Place des Vosges in Paris, spreads its arcades of brick and ochre stone around a fountain. Birthplace of Arthur Rimbaud and world capital of puppetry, the town has the clock of the Great Puppeteer, which comes to life at set times. In the afternoon, the fortified castle of Sedan, one of the largest in Europe, reveals its ramparts and medieval halls on a tour adapted to your group. Few kilometres, plenty of history and an easy return.

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, at a time suited to your region.
  • Comfortable coach journey with breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Charleville-Mézières in the late morning and guided stroll around the Place Ducale and the banks of the Meuse (on request).
  • Stop in front of the Great Puppeteer clock and its show at set times.
  • Visit of the Arthur Rimbaud Museum, housed in the Old Mill (on request).

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
