A day in Brussels to understand the European Union at the Parlamentarium, then discover the Grand-Place and the Atomium.

Brussels is home to the main institutions of the European Union, making it the ideal place to explore European citizenship. At the Parlamentarium, the European Parliament’s visitor centre, pupils discover the history of European integration and the work of MEPs in an interactive way. The walk continues to the UNESCO-listed Grand-Place, with its Gothic town hall and guild houses, and on to the Manneken Pis. In the afternoon, the Atomium, built for the 1958 World’s Fair, represents an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times: a great gateway to science. This trip suits history, geography and citizenship classes, from the last years of primary school to the end of secondary school.
