Two relaxed days in Dutch Brabant: Breda, cradle of the Nassaus, its peaceful beguinage, then the star-shaped fortress town of Willemstad.
Just across the border, Breda is an ideal setting for a first group break: a flat, pedestrian old town, pleasant café terraces and a history closely tied to the House of Orange-Nassau. Your group visits the Great Church (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk) with its Nassau tomb, then the beguinage, a haven of calm with its herb garden. The next day, Willemstad reveals its star-shaped ramparts, its small marina and its windmill on the Hollandsch Diep. Distances are short, walking is easy and everyone keeps free time for a coffee or a little window-shopping. The journey is short and comfortable, with one night in a hotel on half board.
Programme
Day 1: Breda, town of the Nassaus
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice; our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Coffee break on the way.
- Arrival in Breda in the late morning.
- Seated lunch in a restaurant in the old town (on request).
- Guided tour of the old town: Great Church, Nassau tomb and beguinage (on request).
- Free time on the Grote Markt and in the shopping streets.
- Boat trip on the canals of Breda (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Willemstad and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Short drive to Willemstad, a small fortified town on the Hollandsch Diep.
- Easy walk on the star-shaped ramparts and around the harbour, with a view of the Orange windmill.
- Guided tour of Willemstad including the domed church and the Mauritshuis (on request).
- Seated lunch in Willemstad (on request).
- Return journey with regular breaks, arriving back in your region in the evening.
