Picture-postcard Holland in one day: the windmills of Zaanse Schans, the harbour of Volendam and the green wooden houses of Marken.

This day brings together the most typical images of Holland, without long walks. At Zaanse Schans, windmills lined up along the Zaan stand next to a cheese farm and a clog workshop where you can watch the craftsmen at work. Volendam, an old fishing port on the IJsselmeer, invites you to stroll along the dyke and taste smoked fish or herring. A short boat crossing takes you to Marken, a former island linked to the mainland by a dyke, with wooden houses painted green. The coach follows the group from stop to stop and a fish lunch can be booked at the harbour.

Programme

  • Departure in the morning from the place of your choice, at a comfortable time.
  • Safety: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival at Zaanse Schans in the late morning: walk among the windmills, visit to a cheese farm and a clog workshop.
  • Drive to Volendam and free time on the harbour dyke.
  • Fish lunch in a harbour restaurant (on request).
  • Boat crossing from Volendam to Marken, in season (on request).
  • Discovery of Marken, its wooden houses and little harbour; the coach picks up the group there.
  • Photo stop in traditional costume in Volendam (on request).
  • Return by coach in the evening to your region.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required and a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is recommended.
  • Departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point; price on quotation, from 20 participants.
  • Walking level: easy (short walks on flat ground, frequent breaks).
  • The boat between Volendam and Marken mainly runs from March to October: to be checked for your date; out of season, the coach drives over the dyke.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
