Two days in Verdun for your group: the Memorial, Douaumont Ossuary, the underground citadel and the American cemetery at Romagne.
Verdun remains one of Europe’s great places of remembrance, and this short trip lets you discover it without tiring. Your group visits the Verdun Memorial, the Douaumont Ossuary and its national cemetery, then the underground citadel, which you tour seated in small guided vehicles. The drives between sites are short and the coach drops you as close as possible to each entrance. The second day leads to the American cemetery at Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, a deeply peaceful place. Moments of reflection alternate with café breaks and a quiet evening at the hotel.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Verdun and the battlefield
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Coffee break on the way; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Sit-down lunch in a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Visit to the Verdun Memorial at Fleury-devant-Douaumont, devoted to the soldiers’ life during the 1916 battle.
- Stop at the Douaumont Ossuary and the national cemetery, a moment of reflection.
- Guided tour of Fort Douaumont (on request).
- Check-in at a hotel in the Verdun area and dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Underground citadel and Romagne
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to Verdun’s underground citadel, toured seated in small guided vehicles.
- Free time in town along the Meuse quays to taste dragées, the sugared almonds Verdun is famous for.
- Sit-down lunch in a restaurant in Verdun (on request).
- Stop at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery at Romagne-sous-Montfaucon.
- Journey home with a coffee break.
- Return in the evening to your region.
