A day in Luxembourg’s Eisch valley: the Seven Castles route, the baroque gardens of Ansembourg and Mersch.

Between Mersch and Koerich, the small Eisch valley lines up seven castles over about thirty kilometres, hence its name, the Valley of the Seven Castles. The coach follows this peaceful road through meadows and woods, stopping in front of the silhouettes of Schoenfels, Hollenfels, Ansembourg, Septfontaines and Koerich. At the New Castle of Ansembourg, the terraced baroque gardens with their ponds and statues are explored at leisure along level paths. Mersch, in the centre of the country, welcomes the group for a reserved lunch. A gentle, picturesque day, ideal for lovers of old stones and countryside.

Programme

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice; our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Mersch in late morning and short walk to the Saint Michael tower.
  • Reserved lunch at a restaurant in Mersch (on request).
  • Seven Castles route through the Eisch valley, with photo stops at Schoenfels and Hollenfels.
  • Stroll through the baroque gardens of the New Castle of Ansembourg.
  • Guided tour of the valley with a local guide (on request).
  • Stop in front of the castle ruins of Septfontaines and Koerich.
  • Departure in late afternoon.
  • Return to your region in the evening.

  • The castles are mainly seen from outside; the Ansembourg gardens are at their best from spring to autumn.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
