A 7-day tour of the Mediterranean coast: Peñíscola, Valencia and the Albufera, then Roman Tarragona.
On the Costa del Azahar, the “orange blossom coast”, Peñíscola raises its white old town and castle on a rock jutting into the sea. This is where your group settles in for 4 nights in the same hotel. From there you discover Valencia, its Silk Exchange and the Albufera lagoon, birthplace of paella, followed by the Roman remains of Tarragona overlooking the Mediterranean. Two drivers take turns on the long stretches, with a night in France on the way out and back. A free day in Peñíscola lets you enjoy the beach and the promenade at leisure.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to France
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Late-afternoon arrival in the Lyon area and check-in at the hotel.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Arrival in Peñíscola
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Spain with two drivers on board, through Languedoc and along the Catalan coast.
- Arrival in Peñíscola at the end of the day and check-in at the hotel for 4 nights.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Valencia and the Albufera
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Valencia (about 1 hr 45).
- Guided tour of the historic centre: cathedral, Silk Exchange and Central Market (on request).
- Photo stop at the City of Arts and Sciences.
- Paella lunch at a restaurant in the Albufera (on request).
- Boat trip on the Albufera lagoon (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Free day in Peñíscola
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Free day: beach, seafront promenade and the lanes of the old town (drivers’ rest day).
- Visit of Pope Luna’s Castle (on request).
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Roman Tarragona
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Tarragona (about 1 hr 30).
- Guided tour of the Roman city: amphitheatre by the sea, circus and cathedral (on request).
- Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Free time on the “Balcony of the Mediterranean” before returning to the hotel.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Journey to France
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Departure towards France with two drivers on board.
- Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Overnight stop in the Lyon area.
- Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Return journey to Belgium.
- Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Evening return to your area.
