An 8-day tour of Catalonia: Barcelona, Montserrat monastery, Girona and Besalú, staying in one hotel on the coast.

Catalonia brings together a great city, a holy mountain and ancient stones in a single trip. From your hotel on the Maresme coast, right by the Mediterranean, your group discovers Barcelona and Gaudí’s façades, then the monastery of Montserrat clinging to its cliffs. Girona, with its colourful houses along the Onyar, and the medieval village of Besalú complete the picture. The journey is broken by an overnight stop in France on the way out and back, and you keep the same hotel for 5 nights in Spain. A free day in the middle of the stay lets everyone catch their breath, and visits follow your pace, with a comfortable coach always close by.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to France

  • Morning departure from the location of your choice.
  • Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Late-afternoon arrival in the Lyon area and check-in at the hotel.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Arrival on the Catalan coast

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Spain through the Rhône valley and Languedoc.
  • Late-afternoon arrival on the Maresme coast and check-in at the hotel for 5 nights.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Barcelona

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Panoramic coach tour of Barcelona: Passeig de Gràcia, Montjuïc hill and the Olympic port.
  • Guided tour of the Gothic Quarter and the cathedral (on request).
  • Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
  • Free time on the Rambla and at the Boqueria market.
  • Visit of the Sagrada Família with booked entry (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Montserrat

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to the Montserrat massif and up by coach to the monastery.
  • Discovery of the basilica and the Black Madonna, “La Moreneta”.
  • Listening to the Escolania boys’ choir, according to its singing schedule (on request).
  • Return to the hotel in mid-afternoon and free time.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Free day on the coast

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Free day: seaside stroll, local market or relaxing at the hotel (driver’s rest day).
  • Option to reach Barcelona by local train from the coastal stations.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Girona and Besalú

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Girona (about 1 hour).
  • Guided tour of the old town: cathedral, Jewish quarter and colourful houses along the Onyar (on request).
  • Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
  • In the afternoon, stop in Besalú and its fortified medieval bridge.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Journey to France

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure towards France and overnight stop in the Lyon area.
  • Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Return to Belgium

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Return journey to Belgium.
  • Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
