Three days in Troyes for your group: the half-timbered old town, the Cité du Vitrail, Renoir’s village of Essoyes and Lake Orient.
Troyes, the former capital of the Counts of Champagne, has kept a medieval heart shaped like a champagne cork, lined with colourful half-timbered houses. The centre is flat and easy to explore on foot, from the Ruelle des Chats to the cathedral and the Cité du Vitrail. One day is devoted to the Côte des Bar in the south of the Aube: the village of Essoyes, where Renoir spent his summers, and a Champagne house for a tasting. On the way back, a stop at Lake Orient, in the heart of a nature park, offers a pleasant lakeside stroll. Those who wish will also have time for the famous factory outlet shops of Troyes.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Troyes and the old town
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Coffee break on the way; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Sit-down lunch in a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Guided walk in the old town: half-timbered houses, the Ruelle des Chats and the Church of Sainte-Madeleine (on request).
- Free time on the Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville.
- Check-in at a hotel in the Troyes area for 2 nights and dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Renoir’s Essoyes and the Côte des Bar
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Essoyes (about 1 hour) through the Côte des Bar vineyards.
- Visit to the “Du côté des Renoir” centre and the painter’s studio (on request).
- Sit-down lunch in a local restaurant (on request).
- Visit to a Champagne cellar with tasting (on request).
- Stop at Lake Orient and an easy walk along the shore.
- Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 3: Cathedral, Cité du Vitrail and journey home
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul and its stained glass.
- Visit to the Cité du Vitrail at the Hôtel-Dieu-le-Comte (on request).
- Free time in town or at the factory outlets.
- Journey home in the early afternoon with a coffee break.
- Return in the evening to your region.
