Three days in Strasbourg: European institutions, the cathedral, Petite France and Haut-Kœnigsbourg Castle.
Strasbourg, seat of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, is an ideal city for exploring European integration and human rights. Pupils discover the European quarter and, on request, the Parlamentarium Simone Veil, the Parliament’s interactive visitor centre. The Grande Île, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, tells a history contested between France and Germany, from the Gothic cathedral to the half-timbered houses of Petite France. Haut-Kœnigsbourg Castle, a medieval fortress restored in the early 20th century, completes the stay. The programme suits secondary-school history, geography, citizenship and language classes, as well as the last years of primary school.
