Two days on the Opal Coast: Nausicaá in Boulogne-sur-Mer, the Deux-Caps landscape and La Coupole.
The Opal Coast is an excellent place to study the marine environment, just a few hours’ drive from Belgium. At Nausicaá, the French national sea centre, pupils observe sharks, rays and fish from the great oceans and learn about ocean protection and sustainable fishing. At the Grand Site des Deux-Caps, the cliffs of Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez offer views of the English coast on clear days and an open-air geology lesson. On the way back, La Coupole, a former V2 rocket launch base, houses a history centre and a planetarium. This trip suits pupils from the middle years of primary school and secondary-school science and history classes.
