Three days in Normandy in the footsteps of 6 June 1944: Caen Memorial, Arromanches, Omaha Beach and Pegasus Bridge.
On 6 June 1944 the Allied forces landed on the coast of Normandy: this trip lets pupils understand on the ground one of the great operations of the Second World War. The Caen Memorial places D-Day within the history of the 20th century, from the rise of totalitarianism to the Cold War. At Arromanches, the remains of the artificial harbour show the scale of Allied logistics, while Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer invite quiet reflection. The programme is aimed mainly at secondary-school history and citizenship classes.
