Two days in Champagne: Reims Cathedral, a cellar visit with tasting, the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay and Hautvillers.
Champagne is less than three hours away and has everything a group could wish for: history, beautiful scenery and bubbles. In Reims, Notre-Dame Cathedral, where the kings of France were crowned, dazzles with its sculptures and its famous Smiling Angel. A visit to a Champagne house takes you down into cellars dug out of the chalk, followed by a well-earned tasting. The next day, the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay and the village of Hautvillers, where Dom Pérignon rests, are discovered along a lovely road through the vineyards. Journeys are short, the hotel is on half board and everyone enjoys the trip at their own pace.
Programme
Day 1: Reims, city of coronations
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Drive to Reims with regular breaks: our drivers drive no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch at a restaurant in Reims (on request).
- Guided tour of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Reims (on request).
- Visit of a Champagne house and its cellars, with tasting (on request).
- Free time and a taste of Reims pink biscuits, then check-in at the hotel and dinner.
Day 2: Épernay, Hautvillers and return
- Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Épernay.
- Stroll along the Avenue de Champagne, lined with prestigious houses.
- Cellar visit and tasting in Épernay (on request).
- Scenic drive through the vineyards to Hautvillers and its abbey church, where Dom Pérignon rests.
- Champagne-style lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Return to your region in the late afternoon.
