Eight days in the Périgord Noir from Sarlat: gabare boats on the Dordogne, Rocamadour, Lascaux IV and local delicacies.
The Périgord Noir, with its golden-stone villages, clifftop castles and fine food, is ideal for a peaceful holiday. After an overnight stop in the Orléans area, your group stays five nights near Sarlat, the medieval town with its stone-slab roofs. On the programme: a gabare boat trip on the Dordogne at La Roque-Gageac, the sacred town of Rocamadour reached by lifts, and the Lascaux cave reproduced at the International Centre for Cave Art. Distances remain short each day, while markets, foie gras and Périgord walnuts give the trip a delicious flavour. A free day in Sarlat lets everyone stroll at leisure.
