Eleven days on the Costa del Azahar with eight nights in Peñíscola: Papa Luna Castle, Morella, Valencia, the Albufera and Vinaròs.

Peñíscola, with its white old town on a rock and its Templar castle facing the sea, is one of the most beautiful villages on Spain’s Mediterranean coast. For this long journey, your group travels with two drivers and spends a night in the Lyon area both ways, then stays eight nights in the same hotel near the beach. Excursions take you to Morella, a fortified village in the Maestrazgo mountains, to Valencia and its City of Arts and Sciences, and to the Albufera lake, birthplace of paella. Two free days and a morning at the port of Vinaròs leave plenty of time for rest. A bright holiday, scented with orange blossom.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to the Rhône valley

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in the Lyon area in the late afternoon, check-in at the hotel for an overnight stop, dinner.

Day 2: Arrival in Peñíscola

  • Breakfast and drive to Spain, with two drivers on board.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Peñíscola, check-in at the hotel for 8 nights on half board, dinner.

Day 3: Peñíscola and Papa Luna Castle

  • Gentle walk up through Peñíscola’s white old town.
  • Guided visit of Papa Luna Castle (on request).
  • Free lunch and free afternoon on the North Beach.

Day 4: Morella

  • Drive to Morella, a fortified village in the mountains (about 1 hr 15).
  • Stroll through the arcaded streets and visit of the basilica of Santa María.
  • Lunch booked with mountain specialities (on request).
  • Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Free day in Peñíscola

  • Free day (drivers’ rest day).
  • Beach, seafront promenade and fishing port.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Valencia

  • Drive to Valencia (about 1 hr 45).
  • Guided tour of the historic centre: cathedral, Silk Exchange and Central Market (on request).
  • Free lunch in town.
  • Stop at the City of Arts and Sciences, then return to the hotel.

Day 7: Free day

  • Free day to enjoy the beach and the hotel.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 8: The Albufera, birthplace of paella

  • Drive to the Albufera nature park, south of Valencia.
  • Trip in a traditional boat on the Albufera lake (on request).
  • Paella lunch in El Palmar (on request).
  • Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 9: Vinaròs

  • Morning in Vinaròs, a neighbouring fishing port, with its market and promenade.
  • Free afternoon and last dinner at the hotel.

Day 10: Journey to the Rhône valley

  • Breakfast and departure from Peñíscola.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in the Lyon area in the evening, check-in at the hotel, dinner.

Day 11: Return to Belgium

  • Breakfast and departure from the hotel.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Free lunch stop on the way.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
