Three Christmas days in Holland for your group: the Dordrecht market, Gouda’s market square and Amsterdam’s illuminated canals.
This trip brings together three faces of a Dutch Christmas. Dordrecht, the oldest town in Holland, hosts one of the largest Christmas markets in the Netherlands in its streets and along its old harbours, where three rivers meet. In Gouda, the market square is arranged around the Gothic town hall, one of the oldest in the country, a short walk from Saint John’s Church and its famous stained-glass windows; this is the place to taste cheese and stroopwafels. In the evening, Amsterdam takes over with a canal cruise past the light artworks of the Light Festival. For an association, a club or a family, it is a lovely way to enjoy Advent together, from the departure point of your choice.
Programme
Day 1: Dordrecht and its Christmas market
- Departure in the morning from the place of your choice.
- Drive to Dordrecht, the oldest town in Holland.
- Free time at the Christmas market, one of the largest in the Netherlands, in the streets of the centre and along the old harbours.
- Guided walk: the Grote Kerk, the old harbours and the Groothoofd, where the Merwede, the Noord and the Oude Maas meet (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel in the Rotterdam or Gouda area.
- Dinner at the hotel (on request).
Day 2: Gouda, then Amsterdam in lights
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Discovering Gouda: the market square and the Gothic town hall, one of the oldest in the Netherlands.
- Visit to Saint John’s Church and its famous stained glass, the Goudse Glazen (on request).
- Free time near the Waag, the old cheese weigh house, to taste Gouda cheese and stroopwafels.
- Drive to Amsterdam and check-in at the hotel, in Amsterdam or nearby.
- At nightfall, boat cruise on the canals past the light artworks of the Light Festival.
- Group dinner in a restaurant in the centre (on request).
Day 3: Amsterdam and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided walk through the Jordaan and along the 17th-century canals listed by UNESCO (on request).
- Free time in the centre: Dam Square, Kalverstraat and the Bloemenmarkt, the floating flower market on the Singel.
- Departure in the mid-afternoon.
- Return journey with regular breaks.
- Return to your home area in the evening.

Good to know
- A valid identity card is required for each participant; departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
- The Dordrecht Christmas market lasts only a few days, usually in mid-December, and the Amsterdam Light Festival runs from late November or early December to mid-January: dates to be checked each year.
- Gouda bij Kaarslicht, the evening when the square is lit by candlelight around the great Christmas tree, takes place on a single evening in mid-December: if it falls during your trip, we adapt the programme so you can attend.
