Den Bosch at Christmas as a group: market and illuminated streets, St John’s Cathedral, a boat on the Binnendieze and a Bossche bol.
’s-Hertogenbosch, or Den Bosch, is the birthplace of the painter Hieronymus Bosch, whose statue stands on the Markt. During Advent, the historic centre is decked with lights and hosts a Christmas market and festive events. St John’s Cathedral, a masterpiece of Brabant Gothic, surprises visitors with the little carved figures clambering over its flying buttresses. Beneath the town, the Binnendieze, a waterway partly covered by houses, can be explored by boat. And no visit would be complete without a Bossche bol, a large choux pastry ball filled with cream and coated in chocolate.
