Three days in Hainaut: Mons and its Grand-Place, a cruise on the Canal du Centre and Tournai Cathedral.
Hainaut holds lovely surprises for groups who enjoy heritage. Mons, European Capital of Culture in 2015, charms visitors with its Grand-Place, the collegiate church of Sainte-Waudru and its Baroque belfry, listed by UNESCO. A cruise on the Canal du Centre reveals the historic boat lifts, also UNESCO-listed, and the impressive Strépy-Thieu boat lift. Tournai, one of the oldest towns in Belgium, boasts a five-towered Notre-Dame Cathedral and the oldest belfry in the country. The Grand-Hornu mining site completes the trip, with two nights in the same hotel with a lift.
Programme
Day 1: Mons
- Departure in the morning from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Mons in the late morning.
- Reserved lunch on the Grand-Place (on request)
- Guided tour of the centre: Grand-Place, town hall and collegiate church of Sainte-Waudru (on request)
- Stop at the little monkey of the town hall, stroked for good luck.
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Canal du Centre and Grand-Hornu
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided cruise on the Canal du Centre and its historic boat lifts (on request)
- Visit of the Strépy-Thieu boat lift (on request)
- Reserved lunch in the area (on request)
- Guided visit of the Grand-Hornu mining site (on request)
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Tournai
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Tournai.

- Free time on the Grand-Place.
- Return journey in the late afternoon, arriving back in your area in the evening.
