Two days in Walloon Brabant: Waterloo battlefield, Nivelles collegiate church, Villers-la-Ville ruins and the Hergé Museum.
Close to Brussels, Walloon Brabant combines great chapters of history and a nod to Tintin in just two days. At the Waterloo Memorial 1815, your group relives Napoleon’s last battle in a modern, accessible and comfortable museum, before discovering the majestic Collegiate Church of St Gertrude in Nivelles. The next day, the ruins of the Cistercian abbey of Villers-la-Ville, among the finest in Europe, offer a romantic setting, followed by the Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve, devoted to the creator of Tintin. Journeys are very short and the pace stays gentle. The Lion’s Mound has 226 steps: the climb is optional, and the Villers ruins have partly uneven ground.
