4 days in Milan for secondary pupils: the Duomo, Leonardo da Vinci’s machines and Como, the town of Alessandro Volta.
Milan brings art, history and science together in a single trip. Pupils climb onto the rooftop terraces of the Duomo, walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and discover Sforza Castle, where Leonardo da Vinci once worked. At the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology, models of his machines stand alongside a real submarine, locomotives and aircraft. In Como, the Tempio Voltiano honours the inventor of the electric battery, followed by a funicular ride above the lake. This trip is particularly suited to secondary history, science and Italian lessons.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Milan
- Departure from your school at the agreed time, early in the morning.
- Journey with two drivers on board: a 30-minute break at least every 3 hours of driving.
- Route through Switzerland and the Gotthard tunnel.
- Arrival in Milan in the evening.
- Check-in at the accommodation and dinner.
Day 2: The heart of Milan
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Visit of the Duomo and its rooftop terraces (on request).
- Walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to La Scala opera house.
- In the afternoon, discovery of Sforza Castle and its courtyards.
- Visit of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie, subject to availability (on request).
- Dinner at the accommodation.
Day 3: Science and Lake Como
- Breakfast at the accommodation.
- Visit of the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology (on request).
- Educational workshop at the museum (on request).
- In the afternoon, drive to Como: cathedral and lakeside.
- Visit of the Tempio Voltiano (on request).
- Funicular ride up to Brunate (on request).
- Return to the accommodation and dinner.
Day 4: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then return journey with two drivers and a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving.
- Arrival back at school in the evening.

- 3 nights in a youth hostel or hotel, rooms for 3 to 8 pupils and separate rooms for the teachers

Good to know
- Identity card (Kids-ID for children under 12), parental consent for travel abroad and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for every pupil.
- Times adapted to your school; pupils are supervised by their teachers; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
- The Last Supper is visited in small groups and must be booked well in advance: places are not guaranteed; bring good shoes for the Duomo terraces.
