Two days in Mechelen and Leuven: St Rumbold’s Cathedral, listed béguinages and Leuven’s Gothic jewel.

Mechelen and Leuven, two human-scale cities in the heart of Flanders, can be explored without long walks. In Mechelen, capital of the Low Countries in the days of Margaret of Austria, your group admires St Rumbold’s Cathedral and its tower, the Grote Markt and the Great Béguinage, listed by UNESCO. A visit to the Het Anker brewery, home of Gouden Carolus, can round off the day. In Leuven, a lively university city, the richly carved Gothic town hall faces St Peter’s Church, where you can see Dirk Bouts’s Last Supper. Leuven’s Great Béguinage, with its brick houses and quiet lanes, makes a lovely final stroll.

Day 1: Mechelen

  • Departure in the morning from the pick-up point of your choice.
  • Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Mechelen in the late morning.

Day 2: Leuven

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Short coach ride to Leuven.

  • Gentle stroll through the Great Béguinage.
  • Return journey in the late afternoon, arriving back in your area in the evening.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
