Five days around Lyon: Fourvière by funicular, the traboules, a river cruise, the golden villages of Beaujolais and Pérouges.
Lyon is one of the most beautiful cities in France and probably the most gourmet. The funicular lifts you effortlessly up to the basilica of Fourvière and its view over the rooftops, then a guide leads you through the traboules of Old Lyon, secret passageways between Renaissance courtyards, in a UNESCO-listed quarter. A cruise on the Saône and lunch in a Lyon bouchon complete the discovery. In the following days you head for the golden-stone villages of Beaujolais, then for Pérouges, a medieval town with cobbled lanes, where you taste its famous sugar galette. Four nights in the same hotel on half board and days well balanced between visits and rest.
Programme
Day 1: Drive to Lyon
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Drive to Lyon via Lorraine and Burgundy, with regular breaks: our drivers drive no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch at a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Arrival in Lyon at the end of the day, check-in at the hotel for four nights and dinner.
Day 2: Fourvière and Old Lyon
- Breakfast, then ride up by funicular to the basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière.
- Guided tour of Old Lyon and its traboules (on request).
- Lunch in a Lyon bouchon (on request).
- Commented cruise on the Saône (on request).
- Free time on Place Bellecour and the Presqu’île, then dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: The golden stones of Beaujolais
- Breakfast and drive to Beaujolais.
- Discovery of the village of Oingt and the golden-stone vineyard landscapes.
- Lunch at a restaurant in Beaujolais (on request).
- Cellar visit and tasting of Beaujolais wines (on request).
- Return to the hotel in the late afternoon and dinner.
Day 4: Pérouges and Les Halles Paul Bocuse
- Breakfast and drive to Pérouges (about 45 minutes).
- Guided tour of the medieval town of Pérouges and tasting of sugar galette (on request).
- Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Return to Lyon and free time at Les Halles Paul Bocuse for Lyon specialities.
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Return
- Breakfast at the hotel and departure early in the morning.
- Return journey with regular breaks.
- Lunch at a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Return to your region in the evening.

- The first and last days are long travel days, with regular breaks and lunch on the way; the lanes of Old Lyon and Pérouges are cobbled, so bring good shoes.
