Two days in Luxembourg City: UNESCO-listed old town, the Chemin de la Corniche, casemates, tourist train and the Kirchberg district.
Two days are enough to enjoy Luxembourg City without rushing, with a night on site that avoids long days. The old town and its fortifications, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are discovered with a guide, from the Grand Ducal Palace to Notre-Dame Cathedral, then along the Chemin de la Corniche. The next day, the tourist train and the panoramic lift of the Pfaffenthal take you from the upper to the lower town without effort. The coach then takes the group to Kirchberg, the European district, where the Philharmonie and the modern art museum stand alongside the old Fort Thüngen. A hotel with lift, half board and reserved lunches make the stay simple and comfortable.
Programme
Day 1: Old town and Chemin de la Corniche
- Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice; our drivers drive for no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Luxembourg City in late morning.
- Reserved lunch at a restaurant in the old town (on request).
- Guided tour of the old town, the Grand Ducal Palace (outside) and Notre-Dame Cathedral (on request).
- Walk along the Chemin de la Corniche, “Europe’s most beautiful balcony”.
- Visit to the Bock Casemates (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tourist train, Pfaffenthal and Kirchberg
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- City tour by tourist train (on request).
- Ride down to the Pfaffenthal in the panoramic lift, with views over the Alzette valley.
- Panoramic coach tour of Kirchberg: Philharmonie, Mudam modern art museum and European institutions.
- Visit to the Dräi Eechelen Museum at Fort Thüngen (on request).
- Reserved lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Free time on the Place d’Armes, then departure in mid-afternoon.
- Return to your region in the evening.
