Two days in Luxembourg: the Bock Casemates, the UNESCO-listed old town, the Grund and the European Kirchberg district.
Capital of a founding member of the European Union, Luxembourg is a remarkable fortress city, built on a rock above the valleys of the Alzette and the Pétrusse. Pupils explore the Bock Casemates, tunnels carved into the rock, then walk the Chemin de la Corniche, nicknamed “the most beautiful balcony in Europe”. They discover a country where people speak Luxembourgish, French and German, and the Kirchberg plateau, home to several European institutions. The trip suits history, geography and citizenship lessons, from the last years of primary school to the end of secondary school.
