Four days in Limburg: Hasselt jenever, Roman Tongeren, Alden Biesen, the Bokrijk open-air museum and the Hesbaye orchards.
Belgian Limburg is a welcoming, green and gourmet province, perfect for an effortless trip. In Hasselt, your group discovers the jenever tradition and a peaceful Japanese garden, before travelling back in time in Tongeren, the oldest town in Belgium, with its Gallo-Roman museum and basilica. The Alden Biesen Commandery, a former moated castle of the Teutonic Knights, offers a majestic setting. A whole day at the Bokrijk open-air museum brings the farms and villages of yesteryear back to life, explored at your own pace, with plenty of benches and terraces. The trip ends in Sint-Truiden, in the heart of the Hesbaye orchards. The land is flat and walks are easy.
Programme
Day 1: Hasselt, capital of jenever
- Departure in the morning from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Coffee break on the way; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Hasselt in the late morning.
- Reserved lunch in the centre (on request).
- Visit of the National Jenever Museum, with tasting (on request).
- Visit of the Hasselt Japanese Garden (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Tongeren and Alden Biesen
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Short drive to Tongeren and stroll around the Basilica of Our Lady and the béguinage.
- Visit of the Gallo-Roman Museum in Tongeren (on request).
- Reserved lunch in Tongeren (on request).
- Guided tour of the Alden Biesen Commandery in Bilzen (on request).
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Bokrijk open-air museum
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Day at the Bokrijk open-air museum: old farms, workshops and villages of Flanders (on request).
- Reserved lunch in Bokrijk (on request).
- Late afternoon at leisure at the hotel.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Sint-Truiden and the Hesbaye orchards
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Sint-Truiden and stroll on the vast market square.
- Guided tour of the béguinage church and its wall paintings (on request).
- Coach drive through the Hesbaye orchards.
- Reserved lunch in the area (on request).
- Return journey in the afternoon, arriving back in your area in the evening.

- The Bokrijk open-air museum is open from April to October and the Hesbaye orchards blossom in April (to be checked each year).
